4.1 Artwork & CAD/CAM
Defining how Patch artwork is prepared, engineered, and translated into production-ready tooling
- Vector Artwork: Digitally constructed artwork using scalable paths and shapes for precise production. Most Common are CDR, AI. EPS, PDF, JPGs are also vectored.
- Production Artwork: Artwork specifically prepared to meet the dimensional and manufacturing requirements of the Patch.
- Vector Pathing: The use of defined vector paths to establish Patch shapes, borders, lettering, and graphic elements.
- Minimum Line Width: The smallest line dimension that can be reliably reproduced in the finished Patch.
- Minimum Clearance: The minimum spacing required between adjacent design elements to prevent unwanted merging or loss of detail.
- Draft Angle: A controlled taper applied to vertical mold surfaces to facilitate reliable removal of the finished Patch from the mold.
- 3D Depth Mapping: The assignment of specific height and depth levels to artwork for three-dimensional Patch construction.

- Registration Reference: A defined alignment point or feature used to maintain positional accuracy between design elements, layers, or tooling.

4.2 Mold & Tooling
Defining the molds, tooling structures, and machining methods used to form the Patch
- Mold: A precision-formed cavity that defines the shape, dimensions, and surface details of the Patch.
- Master Mold: A primary precision mold or tooling reference used to establish the production geometry.
- Brass Mold: A machined metal mold commonly used for detailed and repeatable PVC Patch production.

4.3 Production Machinery
Defining the equipment and automated systems used to prepare, dispense, mold, cure, and process PVC
- PVC Dispensing Machine: Automated equipment used to accurately dispense measured quantities of liquid PVC into mold cavities.
- Manual Dispensing System: A hand-operated system used to control the placement and volume of PVC during production.
- Automated Dispensing System: A programmable system that controls PVC material placement, volume, and production sequence.
- Injection System: Equipment used to force or introduce liquid PVC into a mold cavity under controlled conditions.
- Vacuum Degassing Chamber: Equipment used to remove entrapped air and gas from liquid PVC before or during processing.
- Mixing System: Equipment used to uniformly combine PVC resin, plasticizers, pigments, and additives.
- Metering System: A controlled mechanism that measures and delivers precise quantities of material during production.
- Curing Oven: Heated equipment used to bring PVC to the required temperature for solidification and curing.
- Cooling System: Equipment or process used to reduce Patch temperature and stabilize the material after curing.
- Automated Handling System: Equipment used to move molds, materials, or finished Patches between production stages.
- Production Fixture: A specialized support or positioning device used to hold molds or components in a repeatable production position.

4.4 Dispensing, Molding & Curing
Defining how liquid PVC is deposited, formed, layered, heated, and solidified into the finished Patch
- Layer-by-Layer Dispensing: Controlled deposition of PVC in successive layers to build the Patch's colors, details, and dimensional structure.
- Injection Molding: A process in which liquid or molten PVC is introduced into a mold cavity to form the Patch.
- Gravity Casting: A process in which liquid PVC flows into a mold cavity primarily through gravity rather than mechanical injection.
- Overmolding: Applying an additional PVC layer over an existing cured or partially cured layer to create a composite structure.
- Flash Cure: A brief heating stage used to partially set a PVC layer before additional layers or processing are applied.
- Full Cure: The controlled heating stage required to fully solidify and stabilize the PVC material.
- Cure Cycle: The defined combination of temperature, time, and processing conditions used to cure the PVC.
- Curing Temperature: The controlled temperature used during the PVC curing process.
- Curing Time: The required duration of exposure to the curing conditions to achieve the intended material properties.
- Cooling Cycle: The controlled reduction of temperature following curing to stabilize the finished Patch.
- Demolding: The process of removing the cured Patch from its mold cavity.
- Post-Cure: Additional controlled heating or conditioning performed after the primary cure to further stabilize the material.
4.5 Assembly & Finishing
Defining the final processes used to trim, finish, assemble, and prepare the Patch for delivery
- Trimming: Removing excess PVC or material from the Patch perimeter after demolding.
- Deburring: Removing unwanted sharp edges, burrs, flash, or excess material from the finished Patch.
- Flash Removal: Removing thin excess PVC that extends beyond the intended Patch geometry.
- Edge Finishing: Refining the Patch perimeter to achieve the intended edge profile and appearance.
- Backing Lamination: Bonding a backing material or attachment layer to the rear of the Patch.
- Hook & Loop Application: Attaching hook or loop material to the Patch for removable attachment.
- Hardware Installation: Installing magnets, pins, loops, clips, lugs, or other specialty hardware.
- Adhesive Application: Applying a pressure-sensitive or heat-activated adhesive backing to the Patch.
- Release Liner Application: Applying protective release paper or film over an adhesive surface until final use.
- Final Cleaning: Removing dust, residue, debris, or processing contaminants from the finished Patch.
- Final Preparation: Completing the final inspection, packaging, and preparation of the Patch for shipment or application.
