Defining methods used to permanently secure the Patch to a garment, product, or surface

Sew-On: A permanent attachment method where the Patch is secured directly to the surface using thread stitching.
Sewing Channel: A recessed or designated area around the Patch perimeter designed to accommodate stitching.
Heat Seal: A heat-activated backing that bonds the Patch to a compatible surface when pressure and heat are applied.
Iron-On: A consumer-oriented term for a Patch designed to attach using heat and pressure.
Home Heat-Seal: A heat-activated Patch backing designed for application using a household iron or similar consumer-grade heat source.
Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive: An adhesive backing that bonds to a surface through applied pressure rather than heat.
3M Adhesive Backing: See Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive above. 3M is a brand, but one of the most common adhesive backing provider.
Self-Adhesive Backing: A pre-applied adhesive layer protected by a removable release liner until application.
Direct Bonding: A method where the Patch is permanently bonded to the target surface without a separate mechanical attachment system.
Direct Weld: A process that fuses the Patch material directly to a compatible surface through controlled heat, pressure, or energy.

Defining reusable attachment systems using complementary hook and loop (Velcro) surfaces

Hook Side: The rough, hook-covered surface designed to engage with a compatible loop surface.
Loop Side: The soft, fabric-like surface designed to receive and hold the hook side.
Hook Backing: A hook material permanently attached to the rear of the Patch for removable attachment.
Loop Backing: A loop material attached to the rear or mounting surface to receive the Patch hooks.
Stitch-On Hook: Hook material secured to the Patch using perimeter or surface stitching.

Molded PVC Hook: Hook structures formed directly as part of the PVC Patch construction.
Perimeter Over-Stitch: Stitching applied around the perimeter to secure the hook or loop backing to the Patch.
Hook & Loop Backing: A paired attachment system consisting of complementary hook and loop surfaces.
Velcro: A commonly used brand name for hook-and-loop fastening systems consisting of complementary hook and loop surfaces.
Velcro-Backed Patch: A Patch fitted with hook or loop material for removable attachment to a compatible hook-and-loop surface.
Removable Attachment: An attachment method allowing the Patch to be repeatedly removed and reattached without permanently bonding it to the mounting surface.

Defining hardware and attachment features used for promotional, accessory, display, and specialty applications

Butterfly Clutch: A spring-loaded metal fastener commonly used to secure pins, badges, and small Patch accessories.
Keychain Loop: A loop or attachment point designed to connect the Patch to a key ring, clip, or similar hardware.
Attachment Lug: A molded or integrated extension providing a dedicated point for attaching hardware or accessories.
Magnet Backing: A magnetic component attached to the rear of the Patch for removable placement on ferrous surfaces.
Button Loop: A loop feature designed to secure the Patch around a button, strap, or similar attachment point.
Strap Attachment: A molded or integrated feature designed to connect the Patch to a strap, webbing, or similar material.

PVC Rigid Board: A rigid polymer sheet used as an internal or backing support component.
